JURIED ARTISTS MASTER WORKSHOP AND ONLINE EXHIBITION

This workshop brings together two seasoned, professional artist instructors that work with abstraction. Both artists are focused on material, luminosity, space and color. Jeff is interested in the intersection of architecture and the natural world; Lisa looks for metaphor through mark-making and color.


 

The 5-day workshop will feature three live days and two days of individual feedback where we will focus on each individual participant’s work, fine-tuning content, intention and technique. Artists may use any painting media and/ or paintings used in a sculptural context.
The goal of the class is to have you make a transformation with your work over the 5 days.
 
The workshop will feature 3 days of instruction on the following topics and will take place on Monday, July 20, Wednesday, July 22, and Friday, July 24.
  • (2) hours sessions from 11-1 pm EST of instruction from both artists. Instruction includes: demos on advanced oil painting techniques and process, advanced encaustic painting techniques and process, solutions using acrylic medium, drawing processes that help loosen your approach towards creating, using print ideas in a painting context.
  • Power points and professional development sessions addressing the participant’s needs.  All sessions will be recorded so you can view everything.
  • On Monday, Wednesday, Friday afternoons we will reconvene from 3-4:30 PM EST for questions, follow-ups and discussions about work.
  • On Tuesday and Thursdays we will meet with each artist for (1) 20 minute session over the two days for feedback on your work.

The morning Zoom sessions will be broken into presentations on oil, acrylic, and encaustic and both Lisa and Jeff will give presentations during this time and you may choose which classes to attend live. The sessions will be recorded and you can go back and watch any sessions you did not attend.
 
July 21 11-5 PM EST Individual meetings on work and direction       with both Lisa and Jeff

July 24 11-4 PM EST  Review of work completed over the week using a PowerPoint of the work created over the week.
 
If accepted you would contribute to an exciting group dynamic and the opportunity to be included in an online exhibition with good marketing for optimum visibility. 
In summary, the workshop includes:
  • One conference call about your individual work with both artists
  • Five days of creating with three directed study days with Lisa and Jeff
  • critique with Chicago gallery owner, Dan Addington    
  • Individual and group discussions 
  • An online exhibition will be on display from July 25 – August 31
